CropLife Welcomes partnership with CARREO on Empty Container Management
John Litas, the newly elected president of CARREO (Cordillera Administrative Region Resource Extension Organization), comprising seed and chemical companies, aims to foster camaraderie among over 270 members. Litas emphasized the importance of fair competition among products that share the common goal of delivering quality products to farmers.
Another advocacy of the group is the proper disposal of empty bottles from farms to prevent health hazards for farmers and soil contamination. Litas expressed the organization's involvement in bottle retrieval to assist farmers with responsible disposal. The group is also planning to collaborate with CropLife on its stewardship program concerning the Collection of Empty Containers and Empty Container Management (ECM). In the pipeline is the training of trainers on topics such as the Safe Use of Pesticides, Triple Rinse, Insecticide Resistance Management, and issues related to HRAC and RAC. Litas expressed satisfaction that an organization like CropLife can aid CARREO in improving the lives of farmers and the community through responsible farming practices. “We are happy that there is an organization (CropLife) that can help CARREO in uplifting the lives of farmers and the community itself through responsible farming practices,” he said In response, CLP Philippines Executive Director Ramon Abadilla stated that the organization is delighted to extend support to groups like CARREO in educating farmers on best practices in the field. |
