New SCOPSA techno demo farm launched in Koronadal
Another Sustainable Corn Production in Sloping Areas (SCOPSA) techno demo site was launched in Koronadal City as part of a joint endeavor by the Department of Agriculture, DA-Bureau of Soils and Water Management (DA-BSWM), Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and CropLife Philippines.
The site identified for the project was a 3.7 hectare corn farm volunteered by farmer cooperator Rachel Estoquia.
Based on the mechanics of the project, all inputs will be provided by CropLife member companies while expert guidance will be provided by the government agency partners. These experts will guide and monitor the farmer cooperators who will be involved in the techno farm.
The ceremonial planting of vegetative barriers for the SCOPSA project was attended by government regulators and CropLife Regional Action Network (CRAN) representatives. Among them were Sharmin Camlian and Shieldon Fernandez from DA Region 12; Usop Mimbawalag from the DENR, and Bony dela Cruz from DA-BSWM.
